This may be a silly question but...

When does Freshers’ Week officially start?
Freshers' Week starts on Monday 3rd October. However, if you are looking for a break from unpacking and a chance to meet some new friends, come along to our Salsa Session and Welcome Bar and Mash Up on Sunday 2nd October.

All enrolment is done online and undergraduate students can enrol online from 1st September 2011.

How do I register for the University Medical Practice?
The University Medical Practice provides a full range of medical services to registered students of all nationalities. Information about registering with the medical practice can be found on the University website.

Where can I get an NUSextra card from?
You will be able to purchase an NUSextra card from the NUS website or in the Freshers’ Fayre tent on Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th October. The NUSextra card costs £11 and offers a huge amount of discounts online and in the high street. Find out more about NUSextra.

How do I become a member of the Students’ Union?
All registered students at are automatically members of Reading University Students’ Union.

When are the Students’ Union ‘Welcome Talks’ taking place?
There will be three opportunities to attend a talk. They will take place on Mon 3rd, Tue 4th and Wed 5th Oct from 5.00pm – 6.00pm in The Palmer Building Theatre.

How can I buy tickets for Students’ Union events?
You can beat the queues and purchase tickets to our events online through this website before you arrive. To do this you need to register first. Then just visit an event's webpage, select the 'Buy Tickets' link where applicable and follow the instructions.
Alternatively, you can buy tickets from the 3sixty Box Office when you arrive. Check out the 3sixty Box Office opening times.

Please note: If you haven't received your validation email, please check your junk/spam folder. During times of high demand validation emails may be delayed. Please refrain from registering multiple times if your validation email is delayed.

Where can I find a map of campus or help with directions?
You can pick up a campus map or ask for directions from the Students’ Union reception in the Hub. Alternatively, look out for our Freshers’ Angels during Freshers’ week who will be more than happy to help you.

There is a cash machine located next to our Campus Central shop in the centre of the Whiteknights campus.

Confused about registering or want to buy event tickets before you arrive?
As a Fresher, you can't register for a Student Account on the RUSU website until you're on campus and have claimed your Student Access Card – that's the final phase of student registration for the University. However, that doesn't mean you can't buy your tickets to Freshers' events before you arrive!

In the meantime, you can register for a Guest Account by visiting rusu.co.uk/guest and filling in your details.

Your Guest Account will become active only once you've used the link in your validation email. This will be sent to the email you elected when filling in the registration form – if you haven't received your validation email please check your spam/junk mail inboxes as they are likely to have ended up there.

Once your account has been validated, you can log onto the RUSU website using the details you provided when registering: for a Guest Account use your Email Address as your University Number and the password you elected when registering.
