Sports... Societies... Volunteering... Freebies... and so much more!
Freshers’ Fayre is one of the biggest events in the Freshers’ Fortnight calendar... So big that we have to run it over two days! It is the best opportunity to discover exciting what's on offer at the University and locally. RUSU sports clubs and societies, media and volunteer groups will all be there as well as a whole host of commercial companies and charities. Come to Freshers' Fayre and chat to the students that run the RUSU's sports clubs and societies, find out what they're about and ask any questions.
Taster Sessions
Many sports clubs and societies allow you to 'try before you buy', download our Student Activities Freshers' Guide 2012 (PDF, 983MB) for details of the taster sessions on offer.
Really keen? Can’t wait? You can even join sports clubs and societies online in advance. You will need to register on the RUSU website need have your student number to be applicable to get a student membership.
Where
The Marquee
Located at Carpark 4, off to the side of the Students' Union building, this is where you'll find Societies gather on Wednesday and Sports Clubs and Volunteering groups on Thursday!
3sixty
On both days of the Fayre, 3sixty plays host to a plethora of commercial and charity stalls all tripping over each other to give you free stuff in return for a moment of your attention. Make sure you drag yourself out of bed on both days and get down to 3sixty to reap the benefits as different companies attend.

Freshers', Sports &
Volunteer Fayre
11.00am - 5.00pm on Thursday 4th October 2012
We have just under 60 different sports clubs covering all the usual ones such as football, rugby, netball and hockey who all compete in the South East divisions of BUCS, the university sports leagues, plus a huge number of others that compete in different leagues/competitions. If you are just looking for something recreational then we have something for you too such as mountaineering, sub aqua and airsoft. Take a look at our sports pages for more detailed information on all our clubs.
RUSU also runs a huge range volunteering projects, from tea parties for local elderly residents and vegetable growing on campus to fundraising for charity and running after school clubs for children. You’ll find one-off and flexible opportunities as well as longer term options, all of which are a great way to fill your spare time, make new friends and learn new skills.
