Keep it Green

We all know what it's like living on a corridor or in a house full of other students. With everyone eating at different times and having different tastes, rubbish bins just aren't big enough to cope! Bringing rats, flies, cats and a not very nice looking front garden along with it!

Recycling your rubbish is a simple and effective way of creating a cleaner and more ethical way of living, saving both the Reading landscape and planet earth!

Simple things you can do:

  • If you haven't already got a recycling bin/boxes get in touch with the local council and they'll bring you one round
  • Check out when your rubbish and recycling collections are               (depending on the council ward you live in)
  • Remember what rubbish you can put in the bins/boxes
  • Encourage everyone around you to recycle too!
  • Report any graffiti, fly tipping or un-collected rubbish to your local council

What has RUSU been doing on this campaign?

- Ran a campus wide 'Go Green' campaign
- Distributed the Up our Street booklet containing a bin collection calendar
- Set up the Go Local On a Better Environment (GLOBE) volunteering project
which carries out community Clean ups on roads in Reading alongside other
  environmental projects
