Keep it Safe

Leaving a window open, walking home talking to your best mate on your mobile, taking an unlicensed taxi are all small and sometimes unconscious mistakes we all make.

Don't risk being a victim of crime in your community.

Simple things you can do:

  • Plan how your going to get to and from a venue
  • Cover your drink or Ask for a Spikey behind the bar
  • Remember to check your windows and doors are closed and locked
  • Do a safety check of your student house, and consult your landlord if you are concerned
  • Only use licensed taxis
  • Use the RUSU Nightbus if your travelling home from campus
  • Look out for yourself and for your fellow students around you, warn them if you are worried about their safety

What has RUSU been doing on this campaign?

Set up the Student Safety Group
Ran a campus wide alcohol awareness campaign in Freshers Week
Set up Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) drop ins in the Union
Ran a campus wide personal safety campaign
Produced and distributed a leaflet on how to leave your property safe over Xmas
