Last year over 200 students voted to get RUSU to run a campaign for a swimming pool on campus!
We began the campaign gathering a wide range of support for the campaign, collecting over 150 emails of support from University staff, over 1,000 students in a facebook group, 7 local schools support, and over 200 photos of you posing as the Hoff and Pamela Anderson!
Having realised the huge amount of support we then set about researching the background behind swimming pool's at Reading and at other Universities. All this information enabled us to form a realistic yet strong argument for a 25m swimming pool at Reading.
The proposal was presented to Sports Management Committee on 5th June 08 and was very well recieved.
Because we had taken our time over producing the proposal it was praised at the meeting, and suggestions were given as to how to take it forward. RUSU will now investigate all the issues brought up at Sports Management Committee, and produce a new document to present back at the next meeting to move this discussion forward - hopefully towards a feasibility group!
