Manifesto

Democracy

  • Promote the accessibility of sabbaticals to the student populous.
  • Promote equality in the union for all.
  • Improve the democratic process in the Union by increasing voter turn out.
  • Increase the accountability of the Union to all students, especially those who are voted into the Union by the students.

Campaigns

  • Promote student choice on which campaigns are run by the union.
  • Follow on from 'Go Green Week' with similar union wide events.
  • Promote the involvement of Bulmershe in the campaigns that are run.
  • Push the Nestle campaign and other similar ethical campaigns, as well as pushing and improving the fair-trade status of the Union.
  • Follow through on the healthy eating campaign by pushing for healthier options in Mojo's, Caf� Mondial, and RU Being Served.
  • As well as promoting these campaigns, also promote the understanding of these campaigns and the real issues behind them.

Local Community

  • Work more closely with the local community.
  • Promote volunteer schemes within the local community.
  • Improve relationships with the local community through campaigns such as the 'SSHH!!' campaign.
  • Look more closely at housing issues within the local community.
  • Try and improve the relationship between permanent Reading residents and temporary student residents.

Enterprise

  • What is Enterprise - Make sure enterprise is incorporated more fully into the role of Democracy and Campaigns.
  • Increase the popularity of the Enterprise scheme as well as student knowledge of it.
  • Run Enterprise schemes more frequently.
