Manifesto

Campaigning has been a part of my life for nearly a decade.From handing our anti-McDonald flyers to classmates to being elected student adviser and trainer for Amnesty International, my experiences are varied and many.

Along the way I've campaigned against unethical business practices, unethical arms trading, I've supported prisoners of conscience, those in poverty and more.

The word 'campaigning' encompasses a lot and this is reflected in my experience: writing event organising packs for schools, running drama and art workshops, organising gigs, right through to the obligatory petitions and protest marches!

I'm currently on the Amnesty Group Committee, the Student Action Network Committee for Amnesty co-run the Student Action for Refugees Group, run drama workshops with local refugee children and volunteer for Reading Single Homeless Project.

I want to help more students get involved in campaigning. I want to ensure organising campaigns on campus is easier and that it is a higher priority for the University.I will also ensure that all democratic events associated with the position, such as Student Feedback Forum, are accessible for all students. This would include wheelchair access and British Sign Language interpretation.

I also want to initiate a community volunteering scheme so that students can engage with the local community in a meaningful and fun way.
