Manifesto

This year my campaigns have achieved lasting change for students; from longer library hours, fairer treatment of alleged plagiarism and greater information about hidden costs of studying.

I have a track record of ensuring students are at the heart of decision making; empowering Student Academic Reps and Education Reps, a Student Voice debate on Higher Education funding, and over 1,500 students engaging in the ''RU Bovvered'' survey.

I will make sure three years of National Student Surveys showing Reading to be weak on providing students on assessment and feedback are acted upon. If re-elected I will go even further to make sure that students know what is expected of them in assignments, and that the feedback they receive is useful to make improvements to future work.

My successful library opening hours campaign gained over 800 student signatures in an hour, which is why I will push for even more student friendly learning resources, such as library hours and appropriate IT resources.

If re-elected, I will continue to fight for a strong student voice within the University by empowering students and StARs within departments to make a real change by moving away from just formal structures.

Our Union is at its strongest when it is united and strong in negotiations with the University. The VP Education needs to be a key advocate for strong relationships to achieve anything; instead of opposing any change or suggesting wildly unrealistic options, the VP Education needs to be working with people to secure lasting change.

Three Main Points

  • Students should know what is expected in assignments, and receive quick and useful feedback.
  • Continue to push for more student-friendly access to learning resources.
  • Greater support and power for students in departments to make real changes.
