Get In the Know
What causes Climate Change?
Climate change is caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other polluting gases in our atmosphere.
The gases build up within the atmosphere and around Earth for many years. As they build, the planet they surround starts to see notable changes.
What causes these gases?
Greenhouse gases are released by burning fossil fuels. These fuels are used in cars, aeroplanes and within our homes.
What are the effects of climate change?
If we don't take action we'll see extraordinary changes year on year. Millions in the UK will be at risk of flooding. Billions worldwide will face droughts and freak weather. Wildlife species will decrease.
