The Postgraduate Representation Group (PGRG) was re-launched in 2007, it represents and unites postgraduates from all disciplines at the university. The group brings together students from a multitude of backgrounds, cultures and experiences. Whether you are doing a masters, a PhD or postgraduate qualification, the PGRG functions as a voice and social network group for postgraduates. The success of the group lies in the fact that it is run for postgraduates by postgraduates. PGRG understands the issues faced by postgraduates and takes positive steps to challenge and encourage change. Importantly the PGRG offers a varied social scene as well as running campaigns that raise awareness of postgraduate concerns.
Returning again to university to study can often be a daunting prospect: Will I be able to fit into student life again? What kind of support can I expect? How is it different from being an undergraduate? What will my supervisor be like? And will I have a social life and meet other postgraduates? These and many more questions are often asked by those starting postgraduate courses. Knowing that there is a community of other students in the 'same boat' is vital to the postgraduate experience; particularly for those who are working alongside their degree or are conducting research alone. The PGRG are here to help and guide you to the right places so that your time at university is an enjoyable experience.
