Representation

Representation groups exist to ensure that minority student groups are represented in both the Union and the University

These groups work similar to the liberation groups in that they campaign on issues relevant to their members, as well as providing support and a social platform, but they specifically focus on the injustices that they face in university life.

RUSU has three Representation groups:

International Students at Reading University (ISRU)

www.rusu.co.uk/ISRU

This group is just getting on its feet at RUSU, with its first committee starting this year (2007/8). The group campaigns on areas such as the difficulties of international students becoming eligible to work in the UK, student summer accommodation and tackling the barriers obstructing international students mixing at university. The group hope to have good links with the other international focused societies that the Union has to offer to provide a successful and high-profile group.

If you want to know more about this group and their activities, visit the web site address above where you can see everything they've been up to and all they have planned for the future. This group is also on facebook, search for 'International Students in Reading' and join today!

Mature Students Representation Group (MSRG)

This group was setup little under a year ago and had gone from strength-to-strength. It provides a mutual support network, problem-solving platform and a social setting for mature students at Reading. Most of this group's communication works through the University Blackboard system, and allow not only interaction between mature students and committee but also student to student interaction for both social and academic purposes.

Post-Graduate Representation Group (PGRG)

This group focuses on the barriers that post-grad students face when at university such as to participation, academic issues and support, and also provides a network of support for its members.

If you want to know more about this group and their activities, visit the web site address above where you can see everything they've been up to and all they have planned for the future.

This group focuses on supporting post grad students during their university experience. This can be through academic support awareness, networking with like minded fellow students or attending social events.
