Circus and Unusual Skills

Welcome to RUCUS, Reading University Circus and Unusual Skills society.  For more information please visit our website: www.rucus.co.uk

This summer, two Reading University Students, Maxwell Parfitt and Adam Cass, are traversing the length of the UK for charity, but their approach is a little different, as they will be only using one wheel each!

Both members of the Reading University Circus Skills society, Adam and Max have been Unicycling for years. The entire trip will take 3-4 weeks, covering over 1000 miles from Land's End to John O'Groats, with very little help and no support vehicles. Adam and Max are hoping to meet up with different circus skills clubs along the way and hope to be joined by a number of people at various points across the UK.

Max said "This will be a great opportunity to help raise a lot of money by doing something we love doing. The trip is going to be very tough and we hope that there will be good weather and not too many people honking their car horns at us!"

The charities that Adam and Max are raising money for include; Women's Aid and the Jubilee Sailing Trust.

Adam chose Women's Aid because he wants "to help women and children who have been harmed by domestic violence - I think that doing something so absurd and visible is the perfect thing to counteract the often invisible nature of domestic problems."

Max's Charity, the Jubilee Sailing Trust, owns the only two tall ships in the world designed and built to enable people of all physical abilities to sail side-by-side as equals.

Both Adam and Max have set up Just Giving pages to help raise the money, and both have set ambitious targets of £1000, "a pound per mile" said Max.
