Welcome to the home of RUMS on the web! The University music society is one of the largest in RUSU and has a long history going back to the foundation of the Singers in the 1890s.
RUMS are here to provide a chance for people to enjoy playing or singing music in a friendly atmosphere and with the opportunity to perform in concerts at the premier venues of the University.
Most of the concerts involving RUMS take place in the Great Hall on the London Road Campus, with a few in Christ Church on Christchurch Road.
Below you should be able to find information on any of the bands we have, and if we don't have one for you, let us know and we'll try and use our contacts to start one up!
We work closely with the music department at reading, and they have three ensembles run by them but populated by many RUMS members.
You can join any of our groups for one subscription fee of £6 for the whole year. Many local groups charge £25 just for one of those so you're getting excellent value for money.

TOB2 is Building 76 on the Whiteknights map. As you look at the map it is the south facing spur at the end closest to Bridges Hall. The taxi pick up at St. Patrick's Hall (Symphony orchestra) can be found off Northcourt Ave
The Bulmershe Music centre is Building 5 on the Bulmershe Map, the pick up for any Taxis (Symphony orchestra) is in the car park opposite Building 1c.
The Great Hall is Building 45 on the London Road map
