St John Amulance

The St John Ambulance society is a first aid society that meet once aweek on a monday night and as well as being a RUSU society we are a St John Ambulance division.

Members have the opportunity to be put through courses to become qualified first aiders. This is a recognised qualification that looks good on your CV. Once all of the necessary courses have been completed members can go out on duties such as Ascot races and football at Madejeski Stadium in uniform to treat the public and practice their skills. Experienced members can do additional qualifications such as giving medical gasses and heart defibrillation.

Duties are optional, many members just join to learn first aid so that in an emergency they know how to help.

In monday sessions we practice first aid and are taught new skills by experienced members such as ambulance crews who do more advanced sessions.

We also meet weekly at Mojos for the quiz and karoeke and have a termly social eg. to jongleurs comedy club, bowling, iceskating etc.

Its a lot of fun and an opportunity to meet people as well as learning skills that could save someones life!
