Trustee Board Reading University Students Union is a charitable organisation and as such is governed by a Board of Trustees. The role of the Trustees is to ensure that the Union is being run properly and to provide direction on the major issues facing our organisation The RUSU Trustee Board is made up of the five Sabbatical Officers, three student Trustees and three external Trustees.
For the Sabbatical Officers this is an additional and separate role to their day-to-day work representing students, whilst the three elected student trustees can provide a different perspective as ordinary members of the Union. The 3 external trustees are selected for their knowledge and experience of, for instance law, finance or the University and charitable sectors.
Thus, they can provide valuable assistance in the process of setting and monitoring the strategy of the Union. The Trustee Board meets some seven times a year and receives detailed reports from the Unions senior management on organisational progress, financial performance and proposed initiatives.
Following the recent Charities Act RUSU expects to become a fully-fledged registered charity in the future.
