Extending your student visa?

If you are subject to UK immigration and you want to stay in the UK beyond the expiry date of your current permission to stay as a student, you must apply to the UK Border Agency (previously known as the Home Office) to extend your stay as a student.

To extend your stay in the UK as a student, you must be enrolled or have an unconditional offer to study a full-time degree, or a course involving a minimum of 15 daytime learning hours per week.

Need some help?

You will need to complete an application form and provide some supporting documents.  Not sure how to do this?  Here is what you should do......

1.  Download the FLRS Information Pack August 2008 here.

2.  READ the FLR (S) Information Pack.  This provides answers to frequently asked questions, such as;

  • how to check your eligibility for a student visa
  • when and where you can apply
  • how to complete the application form
  • what documents you will need to provide
  • what to do if you have missing documentation
  • how long the application will take and so on...

3.  Download the current FLR (S) application form from www.bia.homeoffice.gov.uk

4.  Complete the FLR (S) application form and collate your supporting documents.

5.  Keep a photocopy of your application and supporting documents for your records.

6.  Submit or post your application to the UK Border Agency before your current permission to stay in the UK expires.
