Looking for Housemates?

Many students will be looking for housemates at this time of the year. It is wise to take
your time when considering who to live with because once you sign a housing contract, it is
very difficult and sometimes impossible to get out of the contract. Therefore you will be
living with your chosen housemates for up to one year. Remember, best friends may not be
the best housemates. Read Choosing your housemates to help you think about what to
consider when looking for people to live with.

If you don't have anyone to live with next year or haven't made up your mind on your
choice of housemate, or perhaps someone you previously planned to live with have changed
their minds and have told you that they are no longer moving in, come along to one of our
Finding Housemates events.

'Finding Housemates' sessions

Every Wednesday during term-time
1pm in the RUSU Boardroom
Please note: 24 February session will be held in The Lounge (Old Nusery)

There is no need to book a place. Just come along! These are fun and informal events to try
to help those people looking for housemates get together to see if they could become
potential housemates and also to get information on where to look for housemates.

FindAHousemate Notices

You can also complete your own FindAHousemate Notice and display this on the noticeboard
in The Hub. To do this you will need to provide your name and contact details which if you
choose to do so, will be available to other people who view the FindAHousemate noticeboard.

You will be able to read other FindAHousemate notices that have been added by other
students, to see if there are any potential housemates for you to contact.

Please note that you cannot advertise properties on FindAHousemate as it is intended as a
place where you can advertise and search for suitable housemates (rather than houses).

Need housing advice?

There may be implications if a housemate no longer wants to move in, especially if the
housemates all signed a joint housing contract. If you need advice, visit the Student Advisors
in the Hub, in your Students' Union.

You do not need a prior appointment if you come along to a Student Advice drop-in session
which take place every weekday: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays, from 10am until
1pm OR Wednesdays, from 2pm until 5pm. Remember to bring your housing contract with you!
