Sports Co-ordinator

£19,569 to £21,383 per annum

This role is part of the Student Activities team of Reading University Students’ Union. The department provides opportunities for students to get involved in social activities such as competitive team sports, societies linked to hobbies and interests and volunteering opportunities both on campus and in the local community.

The role of Sport Co-ordinator undertakes the following activities:

  • Organisation of all sports, social and calendar fixtures.
  • Supporting sports clubs and their members to deliver events.
  • Oversee the expenditure of sports clubs.
  • Providing opportunities for participation in sport for all University of Reading students. 
  • Review the level of participation in sports clubs.
  • Ensure all licensing, insurance, risk assessment; legal and regulatory requirements are adhered to by the sports clubs.
  • Deliver training to incoming student committees.


?It is essential that you have good administrative, interpersonal and organisational skills for this role as you will need to provide high quality service to our students in a busy working environment. The ability to work in a team environment and the ability to work with the changing demands of student groups are essential to this role.

Volunteering & Fundraising Co-ordinator

£19,569 to £21,383 per annum

This role is part of the Student Activities team of Reading University Students’ Union. The department provides opportunities for students to get involved in social activities such as competitive team sports, societies linked to hobbies and interests and volunteering opportunities both on campus and in the local community.

The role of Volunteering & Fundraising Co-ordinator will be responsible for supporting and developing new & existing volunteer projects for students at the University of Reading. The role is also responsible for the development of the RAG (Raise And Give) society committee and supporting opportunities for participation in extracurricular activities offered to student interested in fundraising.

Previous experience of working with student groups would be desirable but good administration, good organisational and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment are essential to this role.

Duty Manager – Venue Entertainment

£19,569 to £21,383 per annum

Reading University Students' Union is looking for a Duty Manager to work within our busy student venue which includes a 2500 capacity nightclub and newly built bar and coffee shop area.

Working as part of a team, the role will have operational responsibility for the bars and entertainment within the Students' Union building. This will include:

  • Assisting the Venue Manager in developing and delivering a diverse entertainments programme;
  • managing the student staff team;
  • maintaining stock levels,
  • ensuring high standards of customer service and adherence to health and safety requirements.


The role will also act as a duty manager for a broad range of events that are organised throughout the term for students and external events during the vacation periods.

Previous experience of:

  • and interest in sourcing, booking and spotting trends in the student entertainment market;
  • working in a large scale venue within the licensed trade;
  • working with the technical aspects of venue management;
  • working as part of a team;
  • managing or supervising a team. 


The working hours for this role are 40 hours per week during the 31 weeks of the academic term including days, evenings and weekends on a rota system, then 28 hours per week during the 21 weeks of the academic vacation.

Working at Little Learners Nursery

RUSU provides up to 106 places in our purpose built Little Learners Day Nursery on the Whiteknights Campus. We are looking for the following highly motivated and energetic staff to work flexibly as part of a friendly team that prides itself on providing exceptional standards of childcare. The ideal candidates will have a good understanding of how children learn through play and will have planned for children’s learning using the Early Years Foundation Stage in partnership with the children’s parents. A sound knowledge of safeguarding and health and safety is also essential.
