£15288 per annum (pro rata for part time)

We are looking for a nursery cook to join our friendly nursery, based in our purpose built nursery on the University of Reading campus.

You will need to be passionate about providing healthy and nutritious meals for children aged 3 months to 5 years with a focus on cooking from fresh.

The ideal candidate must have previous experience, not necessarily within a nursery environment as we will consider candidates who have provided meals to the elderly, hospitals or schools.  You will also have good communication skills.

Responsibilities will include:

  • To prepare and serve nutritious and varied meals for children, wash up and clean kitchen as required.
  • To manage the kitchen food ordering and work within set budgets.
  • To follow and implement all policies and procedures set out by the nursery including all environmental and health and safety procedures.
  • To work as a reliable member of the nursery team.
     

You will also need to have the following qualifications/training/experience:

  • The basic food hygiene certificate (Level 2) is essential. Level 3 is desirable but training will be given.
  • Previous experience of working in a kitchen.
  • Experience preparing and cooking a large quantity of meals.
  • An organised approach, flexible attitude and ability to use own initiatve
  • An understanding of food allergies.

Academic Representation Co-ordinator x2

£19569 - £21383 per annum

Reading University Students’ Union (RUSU) is looking to recruit two Academic Representation Coordinators to build upon our Representation Team; one will focus on Law, Business, Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences and another to focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. We are looking for friendly and approachable individuals with an excellent track record and a keen interest in working with students as well as an understanding of the key issues affecting students in higher education. This is an exciting time to be joining the Advice & Representation team. We are entering a year of real change on campus as a number of significant changes are taking place within the University of Reading and the higher education landscape nationally.

The role will involve:

  • Coordinating the delivery of academic representation systems
  • Developing and supporting student Academic Reps
  • Increasing student engagement in academic representation
  • Monitoring outcomes and promoting impact of academic representation
  • Coordinating elections and supporting campaigns

RUSU’s Advice & Representation Department is made up of a team of dedicated staff working to build strong student representation structures, develop student representatives, increase student engagement in campaigning and other opportunities to enhance the student experience; whilst providing high quality support and advice services to our members.

Our representation work includes supporting academic representatives in schools and departments across the university. This runs alongside our aim to support RUSU’s elected full-time and part-time Officer Teams with their campaigning work, supporting diversity and integration initiatives, coordinating our 'Change It’ democratic platform and our annual programme of online elections.

Previous experience of the following is required:

  • Studying or working in higher education sector
  • Undertaking administrative duties
  • Managing multiple tasks and a diverse workload
  • Building relationships at all levels within an organisation

Working at Little Learners Nursery

RUSU provides up to 106 places in our purpose built Little Learners Day Nursery on the Whiteknights Campus. We are looking for the following highly motivated and energetic staff to work flexibly as part of a friendly team that prides itself on providing exceptional standards of childcare. The ideal candidates will have a good understanding of how children learn through play and will have planned for children’s learning using the Early Years Foundation Stage in partnership with the children’s parents. A sound knowledge of safeguarding and health and safety is also essential.
