RUSU Excellence Awards
The RUSU Excellence Awards aim to recognise the members of University of Reading staff who you, the student, believe have gone above and beyond expectations, tirelessly working to improve the delivery of your teaching and learning experience.
There are eight different Excellence Awards on offer:
Personal Tutor Excellence Award
Support Staff Excellence Award
Technological Innovation in Teaching Excellence Award
Research Inspired Teaching Excellence Award
Lecturer Excellence Award (One per Faculty)

Why are they important?
Not only is it important to celebrate and give thanks to hard work, but it is also important to get you thinking about what good teaching actually looks like. All winners will receive a trophy in front of both students and peers, and are also commended publicly by the University at the Graduation ceremonies.
This year, a successful funding bid to the Student-Led Teaching Award Fund (a joint funding from the Higher Education Academy and National Union of Students’) has meant we will be able to take the Excellence Awards further...

What happens after?
This scheme generates a wealth of data, straight from you, the students: what engages you, what you respond to, and what you consider effective teaching and support practice... It seems only right to transform this information into a resource which could be used to further enhance teaching and support practices across the institution!
Our aim is to use the data created by the RUSU Excellence Award to:
- Further enhance the quality of teaching across the institution.
- Promote the ‘Partnership in Teaching and Learning’, which is outlined in our Student Charter between Students and Staff.
- To acknowledge and facilitate the growth of new and upcoming practices.
- Engage more students in RUSU Excellence Awards process, and how their nomination can lead to real change.
