RUSU says RELAX
‘RUSU says RELAX’ is an annual campaign run by the Students’ Union. This campaign aims to help students relax and prepare for the examination period, whilst raising awareness of the mental health issues that affect students. This year we made the campaign even bigger than last year!
What did we do?
Highlights from this campaign include:
RUSU hired a Mobile Farm to come onto campus including donkeys, ponies, lambs and goats. This event encouraged students to take a break from the library, get some fresh air and to leave the event in a positive mood. This event proved to be incredibly successful with over 1100 students attending and excellent feedback from students!
RUSU put on free yoga classes available to all students. These yoga classes encouraged students to do some exercise to release endorphins and to learn breathing and relaxation techniques. This event was very popular with 100 students at the classes!
RUSU Breakfast Club
RUSU handed out over 400 breakfast packs to students which included fruit, cereal bars and porridge. We also handed out bottles of water to students revising in ‘The Study’ to ensure that students are hydrated.
Sessions/talks on student wellbeing and Academic Advice
RUSU worked with services such as RUSU Advice, Peer Support, Student Minds and the Counselling Service to promote sessions aimed at encouraging student wellbeing and providing academic advice.
RUSU Film Nights
RUSU held two film nights in Café Mondial showing ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’ and ‘About Time’. We also provided all-you-can-eat Ben and Jerry’s! These events provided students with a night off to relax without drinking alcohol or having a late night. These film nights were attendee by over 100 students!
What did you think?
Did you attend any RUSU says RELAX events? If so- we’d LOVE to know what you thought of it. Is there something you particularly liked? Or anything else you think we should be providing?
We are always aiming to improve our campaigns so please let us know by emailing your feedback to firstname.lastname@example.org
