Preventing Teaching Beyond 6pm
With increasing student numbers on campus and increased pressure on teaching spaces it has become more common for teaching to be timetabled between 6-8PM.
You told us about a number of incidences where teaching had been beyond 6PM and how concerned you were by this.
Ed White, your Education Officer, wrote a new policy and worked with the University to get this agreed and implemented.
The new policy builds upon the existing Keeping Wednesday Afternoons Free (KWAF) policy and brings this together with new rules regarding teaching beyond 6PM. This is now called the Guidance note on teaching during the working week.
We appreciate that some students may prefer to be taught beyond 6PM. There is therefore a mechanism built into the policy which allows this to occur, providing there has been appropriate student consultation.
The policy was approved at the University Board for Teaching and Learning in January 2018, so if you believe you have not been consulted and are being taught beyond 6PM, please let us know and we will notify any cases of non-compliance back to UBTL for action to be taken.
