Food Bank Donations
What is the Food Bank Donations campaign?
In March 2016, students voted to mandate RUSU to campaign for a system that allows students to donate to a local food bank with leftover money on their campus cards.
Why is this campaign important?
At the end of each week, students in catered accommodation have their campus card credit allowance for food reset – meaning that any leftover and unspent credit is lost.
This means that either students’ money goes straight back to the University or students are forced to buy extra food to avoid wasting money.
So why not give students another option that helps our community and allow them to donate leftover credit to a local food bank?
Each year the amount of people who depend on food banks to get by is increasing. We see this as another way that students at Reading can make a positive impact within the community.
