The university should upload recorded lectures onto Blackboard 48hours after the lecture day, in order to monitor lecture attendance and to put forward a disciplinary action for those who purposely miss lecture. Although, for those who have a legitimate reason for their absence, which is proofed by the 'Ask a Question' / Student Support Centre, recorded lectures could uploaded onto Blackboard but can only be accessed via special password, or could be sent to them 24hours after the lecture.</p>
It's understandable why lectures aren't recorded as it gives students the ability to purposely miss the lecture as it is available online, but for those who have a legitimate reason (e.g. illness, appointments, etc.) it places a gap in their learning, putting them at a disadvantage. Therefore, uploading lectures 48hours after the lecture day gives students the time to independently seek out for more information from tutors and peers, if willing to do so, before the recording is uploaded onto Blackboard.
