Campus Bikes

    Current

My idea is to introduce a campus wide Bojo-bike style scheme accessible to students. This scheme would see the introduction, university-wide (including off campus halls e.g. Wantage and the St Patricks group of halls), of racked bikes, that students could access using their campus cards, free of charge. This would enable ease of access to and movement around campus, should students need to move to different parts of campus quickly.

Many people may have different modules back to back during the same morning/afternoon, but the modules may be in completely different parts of campus - for example, they may have lectures from 9 - 11 in Edith Morley building, followed by 11:00-13:00 in Agriculture.

This is very hard to manage, resulting in students being late to lectures, running the risk of missing important information. Some students may have the benefit of having a bike so will be able to do the transition quickly. However, many may not, so will be unable to do so.

This idea would benefit not only students, who would be able to manage the transition quickly and efficiently, but would also benefit lecturers and those students in the later lectures who did not have the tight timing, as they would not have groups of students arriving part way into the lectures, interrupting the lecture.
