RUSU Leadership Elections 2021

Diversity Officer

The Diversity Officer is responsible for the development of inclusion and diversity initiatives, as well as taking the lead on liberation campaigns. The Diversity Officer will support the Part-Time Officers and help to promote and oversee the campaigns they run.

Welfare Officer

The Welfare Officer is responsible for the development and management of welfare initiatives, as well as taking the lead on welfare campaigns. The Welfare Officer will also liaise with the RUSU Advice Service; supporting and helping to promote their services.

President

The President is responsible for ensuring all decisions reached by RUSU have gone through the democratic process as laid out in the Constitution and Bye-Laws. The President is also responsible for leading on external affairs, liaising with the National Union of Students (NUS) and will lead on RUSU’s democracy initiatives such as Change It and Student Voice. They will also champion sustainability as the chair of RUSU's Sustainability Committee.

Education Officer

The Education Officer will work closely with the Advice and Representation department to coordinate academic representation as well as leading on academic campaigns and events. The main aim of the Education Officer is to improve academic experience and maintain strong working relationships with relevant University staff and Academic Reps.

Activities Officer

The Activities Officer is responsible for the management and development of RAG (Raising and Giving), Student Media and all RUSU sports clubs, societies and volunteering initiatives.

Black Students' Officer

The Black Students’ Officer represents the views and interests of all Black students at a local and even national scale, by acting on behalf of Black students within RUSU, the University, and the National Union of Students (NUS). As Black Students’ Officer, you’ll act as a key point of contact, helping to build a support network for Black students at the University of Reading.

Disabled Students' Officer

The Disabled Students’ Officer represents the views and interests of students with disabilities at a local and even national scale, by acting on behalf of disabled students within RUSU, the University, and the National Union of Students (NUS). As Disabled Students’ Officer, you’ll act as a key point of contact, helping to build a support network for disabled students at the University of Reading.

The Environment and Ethics Officer represents the student body on all issues relating to sustainability and ethical practice. They attend committees within RUSU and the University to help steer the direction of the two organisations by offering a student perspective on their environmental work.

The International Students’ Officer represents the views and interests of international students at the University of Reading. As a large and diverse group, you’ll support a range of international students by voicing their opinions at important committee meetings and discussions. Alongside this, you’ll act as a key point of contact for international students, helping them to get the most out of their time at Reading.
