Candidates can choose to do the following from this point:
ONLINE

  • Announce their candidacy online as many times as they wish
  • Announce their candidacy on any/all social media platforms
  • State what position(s) they are running for
  • Advise students of key dates and how students can vote in the election

OFFLINE

  • Announce they are a candidate offline to as many students as they wish
  • State what position(s) they are running for
  • Advise students of key dates and how students can vote in the election

AVOID PUBLICLY ASKING STUDENTS TO VOTE FOR YOU (AND REVEALING YOUR MANIFESTO) UNTIL ONLINE CAMPAIGNING PERIOD STARTS

Announcing your candidacy just means that you can tell people that you are running for a position, and what position. It might include who you are and why you want to run but NOT what you are standing for or what is on your manifesto. You may reveal points from your manifesto and begin to ask people to vote for you when online campaigning starts (18:00 4th March).

  • Make public any election campaign social media pages/accounts
  • Start campaigning for votes on social media/online
  • Use pictures/videos which include images of campaigning materials or other resources bought for your elections campaign.

Candidates can talk to students about your campaign but you CANNOT;

  • Use physical campaigning materials or other resources bought for your elections campaign.
  • Book out resources or space in the Union building or University buildings to canvass students.
