A place where children grow
A nursery has been on campus for over 20 years. Little Learners was purpose built in 2009 to provide more childcare places exclusively to students and staff of the University of Reading. With a capacity of 106 places for full day care, the nursery is available for children aged from three months to five years and is staffed by a team of experienced and professional childcare practitioners.
This purpose built facility has five child-centred rooms that lead directly onto the outdoor area. Each room is designed to be flexible to meet the needs of the children in which it provides care. The nursery operates as a free-flow nursery; this enables children to explore the nursery both inside and outdoors during a set free-flow time.
The five child-centred rooms create three key areas of the nursery which include Daisies and Buttercups rooms. Daisies which caters for children from 3 months until the term after 2nd birthday and Buttercups is from term after 2nd birthday until they go to school.
Every child is unique and in order to meet their needs we plan and adapt our rooms to reflect this, for example in the Autumn term their needs may be related to settling into the nursery, whereas in the summer term their needs may be working on developing peer relationships. No matter what the child’s needs are our experienced team are here to help recognise their needs and plan accordingly to ensure that we deliver a highly beneficial service to all our children.
During the day, children who attend sessions over meal times can access a healthy and nutritious menu which is cooked by our on-site chef. During each session we also provide a mid-morning snack and mid-afternoon snack.
