Daisies: 3months - 2years

Daisies room is designed to take children aged from three months to two years. With a maximum capacity of 30 children, Daisies is divided into two rooms of up to 15 children. The legal requirement is a child/adult ratio of 1:3, however, we always aim to exceed this minimum requirement.

The Early Years Foundation Stage covers all areas of learning and is used to provide a framework to support children's learning and development.

The children are encouraged to participate in all activities such as construction play, sand and water, sensory activities, story and singing times and arts and crafts. These activities are available in both rooms where a free flow approach is used enabling the children to move between the rooms freely. Free flow includes indoor and outdoor play. During each session a planned group time activity is carried out which focuses on one of the six areas of learning.

The children can often be seen going on walks outside of the nursery, feeding the ducks is a personal favourite along with walks to the Harris gardens. The use of triple pushchairs ensures that this is an easy task.

Partnership with parents is fundamental in the overall success of this unit and at all times staff members will work with parents to ensure the needs of their child are met.
