Nursery Cook

£15288 per annum (pro rata for part time)

We are looking for a nursery cook to join our friendly nursery, based in our purpose built nursery on the University of Reading campus.

You will need to be passionate about providing healthy and nutritious meals for children aged 3 months to 5 years with a focus on cooking from fresh.

The ideal candidate must have previous experience, not necessarily within a nursery environment as we will consider candidates who have provided meals to the elderly, hospitals or schools.  You will also have good communication skills.

Responsibilities will include:

  • To prepare and serve nutritious and varied meals for children, wash up and clean kitchen as required.
  • To manage the kitchen food ordering and work within set budgets.
  • To follow and implement all policies and procedures set out by the nursery including all environmental and health and safety procedures.
  • To work as a reliable member of the nursery team.
     

You will also need to have the following qualifications/training/experience:

  • The basic food hygiene certificate (Level 2) is essential. Level 3 is desirable but training will be given.
  • Previous experience of working in a kitchen.
  • Experience preparing and cooking a large quantity of meals.
  • An organised approach, flexible attitude and ability to use own initiatve
  • An understanding of food allergies.

Working at Little Learners Nursery

RUSU provides up to 106 places in our purpose built Little Learners Day Nursery on the Whiteknights Campus. We are looking for the following highly motivated and energetic staff to work flexibly as part of a friendly team that prides itself on providing exceptional standards of childcare. The ideal candidates will have a good understanding of how children learn through play and will have planned for children’s learning using the Early Years Foundation Stage in partnership with the children’s parents. A sound knowledge of safeguarding and health and safety is also essential.

Nursery Room Leader 0-2s, £17557 per annum

Full time maternity leave cover for 6 months

We are looking for a highly motivated Room Leader to take the lead role in managing a team caring for children in one room, supported by the Unit Head.   The ideal candidate will have a sound knowledge of children’s development and EYFS, previous experience of working in a childcare setting, NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in childcare and demonstrable knowledge of safeguarding practices. The ability to communicate effectively with parents, carers and other professionals is essential, as is the ability to establish positive relationships with children

Nursery Unit Head – Baby Room, £22025 per annum

Full time maternity leave cover for 12 months

We are looking for a highly motivated Unit Head to take the lead role in directing and co-ordinating the staff team within one age group unit and to deputise in the absence of the Nursery Manager/Deputy Manager as required.

The ideal candidate will have a sound knowledge of children’s development and EYFS, NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in childcare, demonstrable knowledge of safeguarding practice and special educational needs,  previous supervisory experience in a childcare setting and good organisational, written and verbal skills.  The ability to communicate effectively with parents, carers and other professionals is essential.

Campaigns and Inclusion Co-ordinator

Full time 35 hours per week, 2 year fixed term contract. Salary grades from £19,569 to £21,383

Reading University Students' Union is looking for a Campaigns & Inclusion Co-ordinator to support our team of elected Part Time Officers in their representation, liberation activities, campaigning and committee work. The aim of the role is to increase engagement with student members who have been historically underrepresented within student communities such as BAME, Disabled, International, LGBT+, Mature, Post Graduate and Women’s.

In this role you will support the organisations broader equality and diversity initiatives by working collaboratively with elected representatives, student groups, RUSU and University staff and external partner organisations to deliver a range of projects that are relevant to staff and students from a broad range of backgrounds.

Working with key staff, the post holder will:

- support the planning, delivery and promotion of key campaigns,

- undertake research projects

- directly support Part Time Officer activities

- develop the democratic processes through which the Part-Time Officer team are held accountable to the student body

- undertake data collection to monitor and record student engagement and measure effectiveness of campaigns

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an independent approach and the ability to work to tight deadlines. This is a fun and challenging working environment where it is important to be able to demonstrate excellent team working, interpersonal skills and the principles of equality & diversity.

We are hoping to recruit a candidate who has previous experience of working with culturally diverse groups and of working on multiple projects either in a paid or voluntary capacity that has had a positive effect on a community.
