New rules come in for nightclubs from today (15 Dec 2021). Under the new rules, anyone visiting nightclubs, indoor unseated venues with more than 500 people, unseated outdoor venues with more than 4,000 people and any event with over 10,000 people will have to show they are vaccinated or provide a negative lateral flow test.
How do you show proof of vaccination or a negative test?
- NHS Digital COVID Pass – to get your pass you will need: to be fully vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine used in the UK; a negative PCR test or negative lateral flow test within the past 48 hours; or have a confirmed medical exemption from COVID-19 vaccination or testing. More information and instructions on how to get your pass can be found on the NHS website.
- Medical Exemption – if you are unable to get vaccinated for medical reasons you can apply for your COVID Pass medical exemption. Instructions can be found here. You will need to phone the NHS COVID Pass service, fill in a paper form and return the form to your GP. Once you’ve completed the process you can access your NHS Digital Covid Pass on the app or website.
- Proof of a Negative Test – you can provide proof of a negative PCR test or rapid lateral flow test via the NHS Covid Pass or by showing the text or email proof. If you take a rapid lateral flow test at home, you can record the result online here. Your NHS COVID Pass is valid for 48 hours after a negative result.
- Vaccinations given outside of the UK – you can book an appointment to show evidence for any coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccinations you've had outside of England here. This is so the NHS can securely update your vaccination record and you will then be able to use the NHS Digital COVID pass.
What does this mean at RUSU?
When we welcome you back next term you will need to show the above proof of vaccination or negative test to get into the venue for Union, and other nightclub, nights. You will be refused entry if you cannot prove these. We will keep you updated on any changes.
