We do it on stage!
Welcome to the only Theatre Performance society on campus!
In the Reading University Drama Society we foster a creative network of talented and passionate students who love making and watching theatre. With nine productions a year there are so many oppurtunities to get involved in whatever aspect of theatre interests you with t a variety of opportunities to hone your theatrical skills and develop new talents. Our members direct, produce, act, sing, dance, design costumes, stage manage and run our technical equipment, producing some great on-campus entertainment for students, by students.
No prior experience is necessary as our workshops are set up with the aim to encourage people to find new aspects of theatre to try out. We run workshops in playwriting, musial theatre, improvisation as well as technical aspects.
Last year we had over 130 members! There is always something going on in RUDS to get involved in, whether a production, workshops or a social. Come and see us at Freshers' Fayre to meet our committee and find out what RUDS can do for you!
If you can't make us, feel free to message us on facebook, instagram or send us an email!
RUDS has been consistently recognised as one of the top societies on campus: being accredited a 5 star recognition award at the 2016, 2017 and 2018 RUSU Society Awards. We've also won Best Production in 2016 for our 24 Hour Charity Musical: Oliver, Most Dedicated Society Member in 2017 and Best Charity Performance in 2018 for our first annual Performing Arts Showcase!
