Re-usable crockery and cutlery sustainability policy

    Current

Reading University does not have a robust policy to ensure that food outlets continue to increase their sustainability. This policy will require all drink outlets to only provide ceramic re-usable cups for drinks. It will also require all outlets to only provide steel or similar knives, forks and spoons. It will also require only non-disposable plates to be provided in all canteens.

This is not only a radical but urgent measure that will lead the way in campus sustainability in Britain. We are currently in a time of environmental emergency and Reading University must play a part in changing the way University campuses address these issues. the policy may require canteens to return to abandoned washing up practices and to provide washing up facilities for staff, time to do washing up but will be more than worth it for the impact on waste that will be caused.
