    Recorded lectures

    Current

The problem I want to Change is:

Before lectures were moved online, some classes especially in the HBS did not have their lectures recorded and put up onto blackboard

This is a problem for students because:

If they are unable to attend lectures and can not ask friends for help, then they would miss out on that lecture. Also, some lecturers read through their slides too quick so some people miss what they say

To change this, I think RUSU should:

Encourage all lecturers to record their lectures and upload it to blackboard afterwards

      This will help students because:

They will not be missing out on their education if they miss their lectures

2:23pm on 23 Mar 21 The following idea went to IFG: Title RUSU to lobby for the introduction of lecture capture The problem I want to Change is: Before lectures were moved online, some classes did not have their lectures recorded and put up onto Blackboard. One example of this is in Henley Business School. This is a problem for students because: If students are unable to attend lectures and cannot ask friends for help, they miss out on their learning. It also gives students a chance to consolidate their learning following their lecture or recap information covered quickly by lecturers who move at a fast pace To change this, I think RUSU should: Lobby the University to introduce lecture capture across the university and ensure all lectures are recorded and uploaded to Blackboard afterwards. This will help students because: They will not be missing out on their education if they miss their lectures and can utilise it for learning afterwards. The idea was rejected by IFG for the following reasons: REJECT The idea to introduce lecture capture has been submitted to Change It on a number of occasions in the past few years and RUSU has lobbied the University for the introduction of lecture capture and the University introduced the Learning Capture Policy. This policy was developed by the University with input from RUSU Officers. Therefore, this idea has been rejected by the Ideas Feasibility Group (IFG) on the basis that the idea is now written into University Learning Capture Policy (14th March 2020). Please note that for the 2020/21 academic session (in light of COVID), students should refer to the Policy for the Recording and Digital Delivery of Teaching in 2020/21 and associated Requirements for Recording of Online Interactive Teaching Sessions in 2020/21 with regards to how learning capture should be being implemented. If any students find that the university is not following these policies, please raise this with directly with your Lecturer, or with your Course Rep so they can raise at Student Partnership Group Meetings (SPG)
