RUSU Mature Students' Officer 2019/20

Mature Students' Officer
Kathryn Bedford

About Me

I’m Kathryn, and I’m studying Pharmacy, currently in my first year. I’ve previously studied Nursing and have worked in pharmacies as both a dispenser and manager for the last few years. In my spare time I love to bake, and catch up with friends and family. I have danced most of my life, and have carried this on in the RUBLS society this year.

Why did you run for the role?

I like getting involved, and knowing what’s going on, and potentially bringing in new ideas and suggestions. (Basically, I’m quite nosey). Thought it would be a great way to meet lots of new people from different walks of life. I like to think that I’m welcoming and friendly, and I felt that this role would be a good way to demonstrate this.

What are three interesting places you’ve been to?

  • Oxfordshire, but up in a hot air balloon!
  • Brecon beacons, I’m from very flat East Anglia so seeing a hill is great
  • Florida, I’ve been to Disney World 9 times as a child!

You can get in touch with Kathryn via her email,, or via her Facebook page.

RUSU have created student-run, peer-support networks for you. This is your opportunity to meet other students from similar backgrounds, share common experiences and receive advice and support from each other. RUSU’s Mature Students’ Officer will be running a peer-support network for mature students. You can find out when and where the next meeting is at the Student Networks page.
