We're a group of students who work alongside Anthony Nolan to help save the lives of those with blood cancer.
At our donor recruitment events, typically held in the Students Union, our aim is to match incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells to people who desperately need lifesaving transplants. This is done by filling out a form and taking a spit sample, you then get put on the register and if are ever lucky enough to get matched with a patient and called to donate, the majority of the time you will donate your stem cells in a process similar to giving blood. For those of you interested in knowing more: www.anthonynolan.org
We're looking for volunteers to help us run donor recruitment sessions and fundraisers. These events are fun and incredibly rewarding, especially the donor sessions. Being a volunteer typically entails helping out at these events, taking people's spit samples (not as gross as it sounds!) and helping people fill out their forms, as well as rallying along with us at fundraising events
If this is something you think you'd be interested in drop us a message on facebook or twitter registering your interest and we'll get you along to our next volunteer training session. You can volunteer as little, or as much as you would like.
If you have any questions whatsoever about becoming a lifesaver, don't hesitate to ask!
