LifeStage

LifeStage is a new student-led project that aims to create short drama pieces around the themes covered in PSHE lessons in secondary schools, including sex education, personal resilience, healthy relationships and mental health. Our target audience is years 9-11 (ages 13-16), as our drama covers some themes which may be too advanced for a younger audience.

The drama that they present are about 45 minutes to 1 hour long in total, comprising several short (3-5 minute) sketches on different topics within the subject area. Topics we have created sketches on so far include:

  • Online safety – the dangers of posting too many details online
  • Consent – using the cup of tea theory and other analogies
  • Chronic illness – a dramatization of spoon theory
  • Mental health – good and bad things to say to someone struggling with a mental illness
  • Healthy friendships – the arbitrariness of ‘coolness’
  • Gender identity – exploring transgender and non-binary identities
