Get out of the uni bubble with flexible volunteering opportunities with Girlguiding, helping with girls aged 5-16 years old. Through fun, friendship, challenge and adventure, Girlguiding aims to empower girls to find their voice! Inspiring them to discover the best in themselves and to make a positive difference in their community.
There are a number of ways to get involved: from helping with the mess and mayhem of weekly meetings (crafts, games and activities), to planning future sessions, helping on trips, managing budgets or training for leadership qualifications (great for the CV).
Whatever time you have to give is appreciated, with no commitment too small. Typically, groups meet once a week for 1-2 hours, but even if you can’t volunteer on a weekly basis, you can still help casually and make an impact. With lots of groups in the area, it isn’t hard to find a role that fits your schedule.
What could you gain? Experience working with children, communication skills, opportunities to make new friends and stress relief (children say the funniest things).
