History Society 2018-2019

Hi everyone and welcome to the official page of the History Society here at Reading University.

This Society is all about bringing people who are enrolled in either History or Joint Honours together and getting the most out of their University experience.

Through this society you guys will be able to meet those with similar interests to you and have a laugh with people from all over the world who have chosen to study History at Reading!

Hello from the committee!

Your committee this year is made up of third and second years who are dedicated to make this year stand out for everyone involved with the society!

Find out more about us and our roles in our personal information below, We look forward to meeting you and welcoming others back!

Jake Morgan (Social Secretary), Chloe Gauvin (Treasurer), Alick Ashby (Welfare), Lucy Barlow (Vice President), Louis Phillips (President), Bethan Casey (Secretary)

President:  Louis Phillips

Hi guys, I'm Louis, and i'm lucky enough to be your President this year! I'm a third year student studying the greatest subject at Reading and I look forward to meeting new members in freshers or second and third years yet to get involved in the society - as well as welcoming the familiar faces back! As your President I will always be available for those in the society when they need any sort of assistance or guidance. The rest of the committee and I will aid your university life as a society member; whether that's helping with deadlines, everyday issues at uni, or where to find the best deals on drinks each day of the week. I can't wait for the year to start, and to show everyone what the society has in store for them once they join.

Until then!

Vice President: Lucy Barlow

Hi guys, I'm Lucy and I'm pleased to be your Vice President for the next year! I'm a third year History student and look forward to welcoming new and old faces to the society. The history society is great place to meet new people with similair interests and get involved in fab socials. We are committed to making socials as diverse, interesting and fun as possible, especially the annual trip abroad! Joining any society during university, particularly your subject of study, is so worthwhile and will open up plenty more opportunities. I look forward to meeting you all!

Treasurer: Chloe Gauvin

Hi all, I'm Chloe and am the treasurer of the society for this year. I'm a 3rd year doing a joint degree in history and economics, and am looking forward to meeting you all and making sure the society is as fun and interesting as possible, as well as trying to make sure the events stay as cheap as possible. The society is a great way to get to know your fellow students, those doing the same course or those who aren't. One of the greatest aspects of the society is the yearly trip abroad, always packed with a great mix of history and exploring, and giving you the opportunity to go on holiday with a fab group of people.

Secretary: Bethan Casey

Hi i'm Bethan and i'm the secretary for the History Society this year! I'm so excited to be part of comittee this year and encourage everyone to get involved the best way they can. I'm a 3rd year and have loved being part of the society over the last 2 years and have made so many friends from it! In particular, I can't wait for the trip abroad that the society holds, it's always such a laugh. Hopefully there will be loads of new faces in the society this year.
