The outdoor cricket season may not start until the summer term, but the Reading University Cricket Club (RUCC) is active throughout the year. There is regular training each Sunday for men and women, and specialist coaching conducted by a level 4 coach during the Spring term. The two mens sides play midweek BUCS league games in the summer term, with the 1st XI playing in the South East Division 2A, and the 2nd XI winning promotion in the South East Division 3A. There is also a mens team playing in the BUCS indoor league throughout the year. For the first time in 2018/19 we will have a women's side, open to all abilities and levels of experience, with regular training and friendlies against other unis.
The cricket club has a great social side which is accessible to all and is highly enjoyable, with the year kicking off with the eagerly anticipated Cricket Whites Social. There are socials regulary during each term and everyone is welcome to come along. In the summer term there is a social 6's which is a great day with a 6 a-side tournament, BBQ and beer as well as an end of season meal.
In the past the club has gone on tours around the UK or abroad and this is something we hope to do again in 2018/19.
The Cricket Club continues to grow as it strives to achieve sustained long-term excellence, as it heads into the winter in preparation for the 2019 season.
