About Mackinder
Mackinder is one of the newest halls of residence on campus, having only been built in 2010. This means that not only is it extremely modern but it is also a lovely atmosphere to live around! With Mackinder having 563 residents and Dunsden having 130, you are sure to make some friends for life.
Mackinder and Dunsden are also a part of Park Group Halls, which includes Windsor, Greenow & McCombie, Stenton and Childs. Being part of Park Group also means we have access to Park Bar, Park Eat, Park Play and also a social building (laundry room, post boxes and bike sheds). If you are after a meet up with friends or even a space for a revision session, Mackinder is right in the hot spot.
Not only this but Mackinder is on campus, meaning lectures are always a short walk away. Alternatively, if it is a break from university that you are after, bus stops are located locally so you can go and enjoy Reading town centre.
Who are the JCR?
The JCR (Junior Common Room Committee) are people who are there to look after the Fresher's and plan events throughout the year. We are also there to provide continuous help and guidance throughout the year in our individual roles.
