Enactus Reading

  • Enactus Reading is a student run social enterprise and an affiliated society of Reading University Student's Union.

  • The team are currently undertaking 2 projects-: 1 local projects, 1 international projects. With 1 other teams: Commercial 

  • The principal objective of Enactus Reading is to provide a channel whereby students can gain experience working in a business environment, while at the same time improving the quality of life and standard of living for communities and individuals in need.

  • Enactus projects set University of Reading students apart from their peers, by teaching them (through their experiences), the relevant skills to make them more employable in the future.

Membership Information

Team Membership (£10)
Membership to be involved directly with projects and regular society activities. Attend project and full team meetings and take ownership of a particular role within the team. Work directly with beneficiaries. Access to all of our own and Enactus UK's amazing training events and transport subsidised. 

Projects:

  • Reading Bag Company: aims to increase social engagement amongst elderly people around Reading through craft sessions and creating a product to help generate funds for other projects and the continuation of the RBC.

  • Zimpower: working with Reading-based charity Creating Better Futures with the vision of empowering young women in Zimbabwe through ending period-poverty.

  • Hope: intend to teach Southern Indian communities to use recycled plastic bottles and locally sourced materials to create affordable and sustainable solar light (As of 2019 this project ceased to be a reading enactus project due to continual success meaning it has become its own enterprise.)

  • Commercial: fundraising and revenue generation to sustain the team and projects.

Every fortnight of the academic year we will have a full team meeting that will then split into projects for a project meeting. On these nights we will occasionally switch out to do training events and socials. Like our Facebook Page to find out when these happen! 

Enactus Nationals 2018. In 2018 the Enactus Reading team made it to the quarter finals in the National Competition hosted each year in London by Enactus UK and judged by Alumni from around the world. 

Enactus Nationals 2019. In 2019 the Enactus Reading team made it to the final semi-final round in competition as well as winning an award for the most improved Enactus society in the UK.

Enactus Reading at the Regional Competition in 2019 held in London AIG headquarters.
