General Information

This is the first year RUSU are running an intramural female netball league across the University of Reading campus – how exciting!

This is the perfect way to get involved in some form of sport, enjoy a little bit of competition and meet new people. Netball is a great sociable, team sport where students of a whole range of abilities have the opportunity to play some matches.

We are looking to recruit 16 teams for the 2018/19 Netball Campus League. Teams can be your halls, course, old girls, or just a group of friends who want to play some netball!

Team Cost

Membership entry is £105 per team.

This includes cost cover of facility hire and necessary equipment (balls and bibs).

Sign up by clicking on the membership fees, to enter you team name and pay the fee. Please also fill out the entry form and email it to rusucampusleague@gmail.com.

ENTRY CLOSED 2018

Team Members

Captains are our point of contact and responsible for their team.

Maximum team member of 12 (7 players on the court at a time with 5 substitutions). Minimum team members 8 (see below Umpire and regulation).

Cancellations

Fixtures may be cancelled by the Sports Park in the case of bad weather. Team Captains will be advised of any cancellations, or changes to fixtures, as soon as possible by either Campus Netball Reps, the RUSU Activities Officer or the RUSU Sports Coordinator.

Although every effort will be made to rearrange cancelled fixtures, this may not be possible. If a team cannot play their match they may have to forfeit their fixture.

If a team cannot play their match they are likely to have to forfeit however in some cases we may be able to rearrange the match.

Umpire and Regulation

To minimise team membership costs this league will run with team umpires. It is each teams responsibility to provide a team member to umpire and officiate the netball matches, one umpire from each side. This league runs as an honesty policy where cheating and bias defeats the purpose of playing – be fair, be nice!

For Quarters, Semis and the Final we will provide qualified umpires to officiate these matches.

Match Times and Locations

Campus League Reps will be in touch with your captain regarding match time and locations. Matches will be on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, on the outdoor netball courts unless told otherwise of a different location.

The outdoor netball courts will be open Week 3 (Saturday 20th October 12-2pm) for teams to go down and train ready for matches to commence Week 4. Again, the facility will be available Spring Term Week 2 to train, where matches will commence Week 3.

Match Scoring

Win = 3 points
Draw = 2 points
Loss (score half or more of opposition) = 1 point
Loss (score less than half) = 0 points
