Freshers, thank you for taking an interest in the best club at the University. You will soon realise that your time at Uni goes very quickly and that you should make the most of it. Many students will tell you that being part of a club has a massive impact on their University experience and you will be joining RUFC at the best possible time.
We currently have 4 teams representing the University, all competing in BUCS leagues against other Universities. Last season (18/19) was a very successful season, with our 2nd team winning division 2 and now progressing to being 1 league below the firsts. The 1st team narrowly lost out on the div 1 title on goal difference and remain in a strong position to get promoted to the premier league next season. As well as this our 3rd and 4th teams both finished strongly respectively in their leagues and hope to progress next season with some strong additions being brought in from the new freshers. Unlike many other clubs, we take all our teams seriously and support and push each and every player to be successful. Our philosophy is to offer a structure throughout the 3 years you are here and to develop you as players and welcome you into RUFC as valued members and future leaders of our club.
All training is on campus and is set to take place at 5-7 PM every Monday and for an hour on Friday on the large AstroTurf (located next to the Henley Business School). Other sessions will vary depending on the team players are training in - each team will run different sessions depending on what they want to work on. Each Monday, from the off, local UEFA A licensed coaches will be coming down and running our training sessions.
As important as the on-field performance is, the club places a huge emphasis on socials. The club is a tight nit group from the first to fourths and without this it would be impossible to keep everyone as involved as they are. Without a doubt, many of the boys at the club will name football socials as some of their best nights at University. After every game on a Wednesday we as club meet in park bar and head onto union, where we celebrate the days results. These Wednesdays are not to be missed and are quite easily the best night of the week.
If you are interested in getting involved with the club it is important to get to know some of the committee.

Trials will take place on Friday 27th of September 2019 at 11am in front of Sportspark. As one of the largest clubs at the University do not be disheartened if you do not make a squad instantly from trials. There is an intermural league that runs on weekends where societies and halls compete. Many current RUFC players have been scouted through the intermural league.
Come down to the Sports Fair during freshers week (Thursday 26th September) to sign up for trials and meet some of the current members of the club. We will be able to answer any questions that you may have and we can register you to the best club at Reading University.
You, along with every member of the club, will be required to pay a registration fee. This will go towards weekly training facilities and ensuring we have sufficient equipment throughout the year. To attend trials there will be a £5 fee. However, if you then go on to join the club this amount will be deducted from the registration fee.
I look forward to seeing you all for another top year with RUFC.
