The University of Reading Cycling Club is for all cyclists, whether your just getting into cycling as a sport, experienced racer or anything in between! We offer the opportunity to go on rides and meet people with similar interests, We welcome new members of all fitness levels, who want to ride with others and improve their abilities and fitness. During the year we offer different rides, some rides may be very fast paced, such as chaingangs, other may be more laid back social rides with a cafe stop in the middle. We also have socials throughout the year, some include drinking and nights out, others many include going to see races and events. An example of this is when we went to the University of Sheffield last year as a club and met many other University cycling clubs.
New to cycling, just getting back into it or an accomplished racer? Feel free to come to our taster sessions during freshers week on Friday and Wednesday. Don’t worry, we don’t expect you to be an expert on your first ride; there is plenty of time for you to pick things up as you go along. You will need a road bike and a helmet is essential. Dependent on the abilities that turn up we may offer different lengthed rides, usually with a café stop. The rides are sometimes divided into 2 groups: one going off at 12 to 15 mph and the faster one at about 15 to 19 mph. These are “no drop rides” with catch-ups to ensure no one is left behind. Feel free to join our group on facebook and follow us on any social media if interested or want to ask any questions.
We will also be at the sports and dance freshers fayre on Thursday 26th of September, from 11:00 - 16:00, Have a walk around and keep an eye out for us! If you like what you see you can sign up to the club or just express your intrest and perhaps get more information about our taster sessions that are running later on in the week.
