Introduction

This online shop is owned and operated by Reading University Students' Union. Registered location: Whiteknights, PO Box 230, RG6 6AZ, and United Kingdom. Telephone: 0118 378 4100. VAT No: 200 0460 47. This agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law and the parties hereby submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts

By accessing, browsing and/or using the website www.rusu.co.uk (the Site), you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these terms and to comply with all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use this site or download any materials from it. You should print a copy of these terms and conditions for future reference.

Application of Terms

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, these terms and conditions are the only conditions upon which the online shop is prepared to supply the tickets to you. These terms and conditions shall constitute the whole agreement between the online shop and shall govern the contract between the online shop and yourself to the entire exclusion of all other terms or conditions (including your terms and conditions or those implied by trade, custom or practice).

Availability of Tickets

The online shop shall supply or otherwise procure the supply of tickets available on the Site to any party registered with the online shop.    

Your order constitutes an offer to the online shop to buy the tickets. All orders are subject to acceptance by the online shop and will confirm such acceptance to you by sending you an e-mail confirming the order (Order Confirmation). The Contract will only be formed once you receive the Order Confirmation.

Price

Unless otherwise agreed by the online shop in writing, the price for the tickets will be the price as displayed on the Site. Should value added tax be payable, the price will clearly state that value added tax is included in the price. 

You must make all payments due, in advance, under the Contract, without any deduction and you will receive an email from the online shop confirming receipt of all sums due.

Prices are liable to change at any time, but changes will not affect orders in respect of which the online shop has already sent you an Order Confirmation.

The Site contains a large number of tickets and it is always possible that, despite the online shop's best efforts, some of the tickets listed on the Site may be incorrectly priced. The online shop are under no obligation to provide the tickets to you at the incorrect (lower) price, even after the online shop has sent an Order Confirmation, if the pricing error is obvious and unmistakable and could have reasonably been recognised by you as mis-priced.

Payment

All payments are subject to the following conditions:

  • The online shop cannot accept any liability for losses to you if your payment is refused or declined by your credit/debit card supplier for any reason; and
  • If the card supplier declines payment, the online shop is under no obligation to bring this fact to your attention. You should check with your bank/credit/debit card supplier that payment has been deducted from your account.
  • We accept the following Credit & Debit cards: MasterCard, Visa, Visa Debit, Visa Electron, Solo and Maestro

Credit Card Security

All information regarding shopping transactions, including credit card number details is handled by Sage Pay.

No credit card details are stored in any form by the online shop or Reading University Students' Union.

The online shop does keep a record of every order placed (up to a limit of six years), which includes the shopper's contact details as well as their shopping record in terms of items purchased. This information is held offline and will under not be made available to any third party except by operation of law.

Tax Changes

VAT stands for Value-Added Tax, which is charged on most goods and services within the European Union. UK VAT (currently 20%) is included in all tickets prices on this site.

Refund Policy

All tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Refunds are not available on tickets once they have been purchased, including those purchased in error or non-attendance due to illness or injury. However, there are certain instances in which a refund may be given:

  • The event has been cancelled by Reading University Students' Union. In this instance, the date will be rescheduled where possible. If no suitable alternative date can be arranged then refunds will be available.
  • The main performing artiste has cancelled and a suitable alternative cannot be arranged.

In all instances the Commercial Services Manager’s decision is final, based on the individual circumstances.

Refunds, if applicable, will only be made to the debit/credit card used for the original transaction.

There are no other instances in which a refund may be offered.

Data Protection

Please read the Privacy Policy for details of how the online shop will use information about you. By agreeing and accepting these terms and conditions you hereby agree and accept the terms of our Privacy Policy.

The online shop has to right to revise and amend these terms from time to time without notice.

Written Communications

Applicable laws require that some of the information or communications the online shop send to you should be in writing. When using the Site, you accept that communication with the online shop will be mainly electronic.  The online shop will contact you by e-mail or provide you with information by posting notices on the Site. For contractual purposes, you agree to this electronic means of communication and you acknowledge that all contracts, notices, information and other communications that the online shop provide to you electronically comply with any legal requirement that such communications be in writing. This condition does not affect your statutory rights.

Notices

All notices given by you to the online shop must be given to Reading University Students’ Union, Whiteknights Campus, PO Box 230,Reading, Berkshire via the email address shop@rusu.co.uk may give notice to you at either the e-mail or postal address you provide to the online shop when placing an order. Notice will be deemed received and properly served immediately when posted on the Site, 24 hours after an e-mail is sent, or three days after the date of posting of any letter. In proving the service of any notice, it will be sufficient to prove, in the case of a letter, that such letter was properly addressed, stamped and placed in the post and, in the case of an e-mail that such e-mail was sent to the specified e-mail address of the addressee.

Waiver

The failure of either party to exercise or enforce any right conferred on that party by the Contract shall not be deemed to be a waiver of any such right or operate to bar the exercise or enforcement thereof at any time or times thereafter.

Severability

If and in so far as any part or provision of these conditions is or becomes void or unenforceable it shall be deemed not to be or never to have been or formed a part of the Contract and the remaining provisions of the Contract shall continue in full force and effect.

Membership Fee Inclusions

Prior to signing up to a Club, Society, JCR, Media Stream or Volunteer project; speak to the Committee to find out what your membership includes and if there are any further expenses throughout the year. The membership fee usually covers the core costs of your chosen activity such as transport, entry fees, affiliation fees, etc. Membership fees do not usually include the cost of social events, personalised clothing, tours, etc.

Personal Accident Insurance

Members to all sports clubs*have to pay a premium to cover any Personal Injury which may occur whilst taking part in a recognised Union activity. Cover is 24 hours a day, 365 days a year & world-wide. This policy is held with Endsleigh Insurance (Brokers) Ltd. and is “The BUSA Personal Accident Insurance Plan for Students” (Platinum Cover).   The policy provides protection ‘anywhere in the world whilst taking part in organised events (either by the Students’ Union or the University) or training and practise sessions and whilst travelling to and from any of these activities.

The cover includes:

  • Accidental Death £25,000
  • Permanent Disabling Injuries Up to £50,000
  • Temporary Total Disablement £30 per week (excl. first 7 days)
  • Dental Injury Up to £500 (excl. first £25)
  • Hospital Confinement £20 per day (maximum 120 days)
  • Additional Travel Expenses Up to £100 (minimum claim £25)
  • Loss of Earnings Up to £65 per week (Maximum 26 weeks, excluding the first 7 days)
  • Examination Re-sit expenses
  • Exam re-sit expenses up to £2500

Should you suffer an injury whilst taking part in an insured activity;

  1. Report the incident to the Students' Union, via the Student Activities Manager either in person at the HUB or email student.activities@rusu.co.uk
  2. Complete a Students Union Accident Report Form and provide proof of your membership to the Club in question.
  3. Discuss your claim with a member of Student Activities staff who will be able to advise you. (A successful claim will depend on the nature of the injury or loss and factors relating to “compensation” for hospitalisation, expenses incurred, see above)
  4. Complete an Endsleigh Insurance Claim Form available via the Student Activities Office.

Service Standards

 All Club or Society members can expect to receive.

  • The opportunity to attend regular meetings, events, activities, trips and socials as arranged.
  • The opportunity to stand for a committee position or vote in their elections (Staffs students only).
  • For Sports Club – to attend regular training sessions and have the opportunity to be selected for the teams.

Activity Members’ Code of Conduct

When joining a club, society, JCR, Media Stream or Volunteer project you are agreeing to abide by the constitution, general rules, regulations and policies of Reading University Students’ Union (All policies are available here) and also the Club or Society Code of Conduct which sets out the level of behaviour & discipline expected of all Club & Society members.

Complaints

Complaints about anything relating to Clubs or Societies can be made by emailing the Student Activities Manager, Adam Bailey student.activities@rusu.co.uk  or by completing a complaints form available from the RUSU main reception.

Refund Policy

Claims for refunds must be made within 2 weeks of the Online transaction via www.rusu.co.uk.  Any payment will be at the discretion of Reading University Students’ Union.  It is not standard procedure to issue refunds unless the Union is in breach of the advertised product.

Clubs and Societies - Enquiries regarding refunds should be made in the first case to the Student Activities Manager student.activities@rusu.co.uk who will respond to your enquiry within 5 working days.

If a refund is sanctioned, the monies will be paid to the individual by BACS within 10 working days of approval of the refund claim.

Reading University Students’ Union reserves the right to refund any product and remove membership where applicable or request change in membership type where purchaser doesn't fulfil the correct criteria in line with Bye Law 1: Membership.

These terms shall be governed by English law and are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts. Nothing in these terms shall exclude liability for fraudulent misrepresentation.
