Our Venues

RUSU is fully accessible with lift access across all floors of the venue. There are accessible and gender-neutral WC’s available in the venue.

The building has multiple levels with ramps and lift access to every level.

Low-level bar service counters are located throughout the venue in Upper 3sixty, Lower 3sixty, and Mojos Bar.

Viewing Area

RUSU aims to provide a viewing platform for disabled students (with +1 for a PA or carer) when these are required, with a clear line-of-sight to the stage.

Please contact us in advance to book spaces in viewing areas as these are not always available at events and advanced notice will allow us to ensure that we can accommodate your needs.

Seating is available on request.

Accessible toilets

Our venue has four accessible toilets with one on the same level as the viewing area. These are RADAR key locked and venue management or security staff will be able to get these open for you if required.

We also have gender neutral toilets located in Upper 3sixty.

Personal Assistant / Carer tickets

RUSU is more than happy to provide personal assistant/carer tickets FOC. Please contact us to make arrangements in advance.

Evacuation Policy

Our Venue Management team are always on hand, and alongside our security team can assist disabled customers in the case of an emergency. Refuge Points are located at the top of the emergency exit stairwell next to our cloakroom and also in the lift lobby. Security will assist those in the Viewing area to the refuge points. Refuge points have communication links to the main fire panel and also to University of Reading Campus Security. Venue Management are trained to use Evacuation Chairs and can do so if immediate evacuation from the building is required.

Travel guide

We have an extensive how to find us guide to help you plan your journey to RUSU.

If driving here, Blue Badge spaces can be found in front of The Study at the far end of the car park.

Medical requirements

We welcome guests who have specific medical or dietary needs and are more than happy to accommodate your requirements.

Please contact us in advance to advise us if you are planning to attend an event and have any questions. You can also ask at the time if attending an event.

In case of emergency, we always have trained First Aiders on-site, with externally-trained medical staff at our larger events.

Hearing loop + BSL

We do not have a hearing loop installed in our venue. BSL signers are used at some democratic union events and can be made available by request in advance of some events.

Assistance dogs

We are welcoming of assistance dogs and can provide water and other facilities should you require them.

It is not recommended for animals to be exposed to the loud noises and special effects featured at some of our events, especially later in the evening. Please contact us in advance to discuss your visit and check whether the event is suitable for an assistance dog to attend.

Strobe lighting

The venues do include strobe lighting and other 'flash-based' effects as standard.

In addition, as many of our events include aspects of 'toured production' - which aren’t always in the venue's control, we urge you to contact us for more information on an event-specific basis at the earliest opportunity.
